May Day celebrations in Woodborough were rather more gentle and restrained this year than on previous occasions..
Alas we weren’t able to gather, sing, dance and make merry together due to the current social distancing restrictions but there was a feeling that May Day and the ancient festival of Spring should nonetheless be celebrated.
Huge thanks to Verity and Patrick for setting up our beautifully adorned Maypole on the paddock and for playing a wonderful selection of music for all the village passersby to enjoy.
The brightly coloured Maypole ribbons blew in the breeze over the course of the weekend and we suspect many local folk indulged in their own spring dances round the pole whilst on their daily exercise…!
Wishing everyone a very happy May Day.
Here’s hoping we’ll be able to gather and celebrate together with full gusto next year.
